About

Kym Dakin, a Colorado native,  has credits that span from television and animation, to Broadway and national tours after a decade in New York City.  In her current hometown of Portland, Maine, she has been an adjunct theatre professor at Bowdoin College and at USMCCE, on the original teaching staff at Portland Stage Company,  and is currently doing voice training through the Acorn School. As an artist of the spoken word, she has recorded hundreds of voiceovers, was the exclusive female voice talent for GMC truck in New England for ten years, recorded well over a dozen audiobooks, and in 2006 she won the Audie Award for Runaway by Alice Munro.  Kym records a variety of commercials, web-promotions and E-Learning programs from her home studio, most recently an extensive project for Maine Department of Health & Human Services in collaboration with Kelsey+Co. She uses theatre improvisation as a teaching tool for corporate communication training through Short Fuse Interactive Inc., and exercises her acting skills onstage as a founding and performing member of the improvisational community storytelling company – Portland Playback Theatre with David LaGraffe.
